HELP! Looking for a nice and cheap hotels in Hollywood, CA?

This could be a difficult question, but I hope everyone can help. I live in Connecticut and will marry this April 2009. For our honeymoon plans to visit Los Angeles, CA for the first time. We already have plane tickets but not to book a hotel. I've already looked and there is only option too! Step 5 hours searching! We would be at the heart of Hollywood, where we see the Walk of Fame and go to Universal Studios and near all the popular areas. We would also like to see the Hollywood sign. What hotel are recommended to all and that one should stay away from? I'm looking for something not too expensive. Preferably less than $ 150 per night, which is still very good. Thanks for your help!

Here are some good hotels, but not extravagant in this area, but do not know if you can get them under $ 150 per night: Check on Expedia. Sunset Plaza Hotel (which is right on Sunset Strip), the standard (also in the strip), the Sheraton Universal Hotel (actually connected to Universal Studios). Here is my suggestion to you: break his visit in two parts. Stay a central location (near Hollywood) for the first half for taxis will be cheap and close to everything – the band is a good location. For the second half, spending a little more, stay more pleasant in a hotel near the beach and end up with a more romantic note. Suggest Shutters on the Beach (Santa Monica) or the Malibu Beach Inn in Malibu. Also There is a good little known Best Western Jamaica Bay Inn Marina del Rey, which has little private patios on the sand, if you get a room on the first floor and there are tons walking distance of good restaurants there, and it is in the water.
