Been to Seattle without transportation?
I'm in the process of planning a trip to Seattle next year, I live on the east coast, so it will be flying around, and that means we will have no means of transportation. The plan is to stay in a hotel near the airport for two days, the view see in Seattle, and then go to a camp. Take a taxi there would be too costly, since it is quite far, the plan also heading to the beach, which is about 4 hours from where we camp. Any advice on the cheapest way to move? Also, none of us is 25, so if you rent a car, will be adding $ 25 per day, as they fall in the range of 21-24 years old.
I agree that it should remain in a downtown hotel around city or area of Seattle Center if you are going to be tourism. The airport is at least half an hour by bus (if you catch the express bus that stops working fairly early in the afternoon) from the airport. You do not mention when you are visiting, but there is the possibility that the light rail link to the airport will be open then, that (theoretically) would make things faster. As for public transport around Seattle …. that there really is no more once it reaches beyond the scope of Sound Transit, which services the surrounding cities of Seattle. If you are looking to be in one camp or the beach (and a beach that is 4 hours from Seattle is unlikely to serve any public transport). When you're looking camping and the beach are you going to? I could better help you if he knew the area to be either in a populated area, or a Pacific beach in national forests. Anyway, if you leave the city, rent a car is the way forward. Even if you have to pay extra, save money by being able to field instead of staying in hotels. Alternatively, take a ferry or the Victoria Clipper to San Juan Island. The Clipper leaves from downtown Seattle and the island is very well with the public transport service to the beaches and parks, and even Lakedale Resort and Campground. Is as being in the desert, but a little easier to do without a car. We spent a wonderful weekend at home to Lakedale this summer and was very easy to move using public transport. Good luck with your planning!
