Sometimes, the sands of the Sahara are carried by winds as far into the Atlantic to the skies over Lanzarote are given an almost unreal, teint oxidized. Originally a small fishing village of the town began to grow after the Spanish conquest in the sixteenth century. Four castles in the city date from this time with Castillo de San Gabriel, located in the downtown. The main shopping street is Leon y Castillo and this is a great place to buy souvenirs.

Lanzarote hotels are known for their proximity to excellent and beaches of Playa Blanca, the third largest city of the island, close to the best island. The Papagayo beaches are ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
