Ever seen a 6 year old, after receiving mail addressed personally? Bouncing … emotion … cheerful delight … I am proud to say I have had much of my inner 6 year old and I often get excited when I receive a reflective piece of email.
Yesterday I received a letter hand of a friend to congratulate me on a job that I have spoken has been found in Las Vegas. Bounce Bounce. A couple of weeks I got a book as a gift from a reader of my newsletter. The thrill, excitement. And although they have not quite managed to gather most of jubilant joy of receiving invoices and notices of tax – waiting for the answer to my second book, when it comes in boxes in the office next month!
Mail can be exciting. My challenge to you today is to send a little email. I want us to send a postcard from the future.
I love getting postcards fabulous … photography, conveniently located a few words and a mental image of someone somewhere who live life the maximum.
Your challenge is to send yourself a postcard of 5 years, 10 years, 50 years (elected) in the future.
What image is on the front of your card entry?
What I mean is: Where are you in 5, 10, 50 years? Being outrageous if you can. Nobody sends postcards home to pretend you're living somewhere either incredible or you're on vacation in a dream destination.
Note Hence the truth I have never been able to answer the question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?". I hate this question because my mind can not even conceive of all things I want to do in the next year, much less offer a perfect plan for 5 years away.
I could however always answer the question – "Tell place where once I would have gone within 5 years." Vietnam, Prague, Egypt, Arizona, Santiago … The list could continue indefinitely.
So the image on the front of your postcard from a location that has been or will be in 5 years.
What does your postcard?
In the back of the postcard is only a few words to write a message to himself that he sought. I love the aspiration of the word and according to dictionary.com it means a strong desire, longing, or aim or a goal or a desired object.
Your postcard might look like this:
Dear Beth,
Wow – Can you believe I'm finally seeing the Eiffel Tower with my two grown children and my loving husband. I am on long service leave from work and can not wait to go back there renewed and revived in 2 months. If only I could see the sunset from our hotel at the Arc de Triomphe d be as in love with Paris like me!
See here in 10 years! Love Beth
Note Beth could be single with no children at this time – but she wants herself to head to this lifestyle – as puts it on the postcard.
Mine would be …
Dear Kirsty
Do not have time to write, the plane left Cuba in 10 minutes. In all 50 countries I have seen in the last 5 years flying out of India today leaves me with one of the strongest cultural memories. The ten companies that I have a working remotely like my husband sensational travel are thriving and support my lifestyle and I have only my fifth language to master and can not wait to learn to dance salsa on the side. Him Did you also know that my brother just bought your investment property tenth???
Stay fabulous and we are here in 5 years – Kirsty
Have some fun with this challenge and consider sending a postcard to someone who can help get it!
