Central Park in place of Times Square for NYE?
I sent a question last week on NYE in New York … I'm flying at night NYE (about 9:30). Unfortunately, I started a new job few months ago and I can not take time off however, just taking the day (or even a 1 / 2 day) on NYE is impossible. Many posters have said there really is no possibility of us flew to New York at 9:30, and entered the hotel and then make our way to Manhattan (Times Square, specifically) for the festivities. So I'm thinking maybe Central Park could do better. Has anyone been in CP for NYE? What is the environment? Do you think you have time to get there? Do they play Auld Lang Syne? This last question may seem a bit strange, but I've always been a fan to listen to this song at midnight. There is particular. Any and all suggestions will be helpful! Thanks!
Well, there is a 5 or 10 km, or whatever, "Midnight Run" race in Central Park on New Year's Eve every year (see link below) and also set off fireworks on the Great Lawn at Midnight every year, too (see link below), so yes, Central Park is well worth visiting a New Year's Eve! As the hearing of Auld Lang Syne, thus ensuring that you hear when and where you want, you better put it on your iPod and bring it with you to make sure you hear it, if case. Good luck!
